Gallery Institute is a tiny arts organization partnering and collaborating with artists to produce large-scale projects online and internationally.
Our Approach
Poetic, human, soft experiences exist online
Websites are no longer destinations to be checked in on as they once were, and the web is fracturing a la "platform capitalism". We collaborate with artists to create exhibitions that are digital and online in how they exist, but that doesn't mean the work must use the latest technology or gimick in its effort to be digital. Online art is a surface on a screen, and in it's barest form, is literary, text on a page telling you a story, implying something beyond the portal of the implied narrative.
The work is archived and exhibited on the browser— where our audience can look privately, the weight of the work heavier, offering itself as more contemplative, private, and impactful.
Pay Artists
While we believe that art shouldn't be tied to capitalistic structures, we acknowledge that capital-A Art and Artists are closely linked to global structures of power, luxury, and finance. We give artists who work with Gallery Institute $1000 per solo project, to aid in translating their practices into new online experiences.
Transparency & Trust
We trust artists to make whatever work they're interested in. While we guide non-digital artists into considering how they might translate their work online, the exhibiting artists have free reign of how large or small their project will be. There is no market or collectors for our exhibiting artists to be beholden to, just the vast digital expanse and how the work exists and lingers in the audience's imagination.
GET IN TOUCH if you would like to get involved, participate in a workshop, or discuss an exhibition opportunity.
